IC.3 NORM – Naturally Occurring Radioactive MaterialTarget audience: Employees in the oil and gas industry who might come into contact with NORM. Duration: The course lasts ½-1 work day, depending on the customer’s wishes. Course description: The course is divided into 3 parts: Part 1: Radioactivity and ionising radiation. The interactions between ionising radiation and matter. Units and relevant quantities. Part 2: The biological effects of ionising radiation. ICRP-recommendations and dose limits. Everyday exposure to ionising radiation; natural and man-made. Part 3: Practical radiation protection (distance, time, shielding) The content of this final part of is usually worked out in cooperation with the customer, based on the customer’s procedures and prior experiences in the NORM area. Course yield: The participant is informed about the relevant aspects of radioactivity and ionising radiation arising from NORM and is furthermore informed about the precautions that can and should be taken. Language: Danish or English. Time and place: Time and place are determined in cooperation with the customer. Additional information: The content of the course is usually to a large extent based on the customer’s wishes and as such each course is to some extent unique.
